HomeStreamlining Global LIMS Reporting for a Large Pharmaceutical Company
Streamlining Global LIMS Reporting for a Large Pharmaceutical Company
Our client, a large pharmaceutical company, was transitioning their global LIMS system from one vendor to another. They needed to review and consolidate over 500 custom reports created in their legacy LIMS system to eliminate redundancies and standardize reporting across their global sites.
Over the years, the client's decentralized governance led to the creation of numerous redundant and site-specific custom reports in their legacy LIMS system. The challenge was to identify redundancies, consolidate report specifications, and implement new reports while ensuring that they met the requirements of stakeholders across multiple sites.
Our consultants undertook a comprehensive review of all the reports, identifying redundancies and opportunities for consolidation. They interviewed stakeholders across five different sites to understand the requirements driving the report designs, and came up with new report specifications that met the needs of all sites. The new reports were designed by the vendor with oversight from our consultant and then validated and presented for user acceptance testing (UAT).
Review all the reports to identify redundancies
Identify areas or data points that could be combined into one report
Interview stakeholders across five different sites to understand the requirements driving report designs
Develop new report specifications that met the requirements of all the sites
Oversee vendor's report design and implementation
Validate and present new reports for UAT
As a result of this project, the number of reports was reduced from over 500 to just 50. This significant reduction led to increased efficiency, lower maintenance overhead, and reduced burden on training and change management.
Centralized governance and a thorough review process can help identify and eliminate redundancies in LIMS reporting. By consolidating report specifications and implementing a more streamlined set of reports, companies can improve efficiency, reduce maintenance overhead, and simplify training and change management.
