Over the years, the client’s decentralized governance led to the creation of numerous redundant and site-specific custom reports in their legacy LIMS system. The challenge was to identify redundancies, consolidate report specifications, and implement new reports while ensuring that they met the requirements of stakeholders across multiple sites.

The client needed a LIMS solution tailored to their unique requirements and workflows, keeping in mind the costs and IT support available for customization. They required a comprehensive vendor selection process and a seamless implementation plan to ensure the system’s success.
Implementation
- Review all the reports to identify redundancies
- Identify areas or data points that could be combined into one report
- Interview stakeholders across five different sites to understand the requirements driving report designs
- Develop new report specifications that met the requirements of all the sites
- Oversee vendor's report design and implementation
- Validate and present new reports for UAT
Outcomes
As a result of this project, the number of reports was reduced from over 500 to just 50. This significant reduction led to increased efficiency, lower maintenance overhead, and reduced burden on training and change management.
